Heather Burris
CHIEF OF POLICE
Badge #901
Around twelve years old is when I knew that being in law enforcement was where my heart desired to be; not only to help people and give a sense of safety and security but give the ability to empower the innocent."
Chief Heather Burris comes from a family where she is the first to take a career in public safety. Chief Burris has an admirable teenage son who has been the biggest supporter in her law enforcement journey. She is surrounded by family and friends, but most importantly, she has some incredible nephews. Chief Burris started her public safety career path in 2008 as an EMT/Volunteer Firefighter. In 2015 attended the IMPD training academy, where she graduated with the 12th IMPD recruit class in 2016, "Together as one to protect all.”
